Memory Lane needs help!

When I post old photos, it's not easy to label them with the correct name and I seldom remember the events that lead up to the trophies in the pictures. I hope you'll email me some names and stories to go with the photos! Just hit "Comments" and fill us in with all the details! If you don't have a blogger log-in, just use "Anonymous" and include your name in the post itself.

A trip down memory lane with the biggest buck of 2008 for starters!

As we all get ready for the big day, we'll be reposting some of the memorable photos from the past. So let's begin with the BIG BUCK Winner of 2008, Bill McKinnon. The buck's live weight was 253 lbs. with a dressed weight of 158.2 lbs. That's the biggest buck we've ever had at Cordray's!

What's STEPS Reading Center?

People always ask what Michael and I do in the off season. I've spent quite a bit of time this summer showing you what goes on here at the farm January to August, but I've never shared my "other life"! As most of you know, I taught elementary school for nearly 20 years, then left the classroom to teach teachers how to teach reading with explicit phonics. STEPS Reading Center is the company I own with my business partner, Monica Beebe. We develop online training and materials for teachers and parents so they can help kids learn to read, write and spell. We work with schools to help train teachers and work with parents who are supporting their kids in school. Many homeschool parents take our training to help them teach their children with explicit phonics, too. If you'd like, you can check out a free trial class during August by going to our site, www.stepsreadingcenter.com. Click on Support Login and click "Signup here". Choose "One Month FREE Phonogram Lab" and enter the coupon code "stepup" to STEP up into the upcoming school year! Please feel free to share this coupon code with anyone who might benefit from some back to school practice!

We are going to be open 2 days for Cordray Farms shares!

Hello, Friends!
We find ourselves in the delightful position of FINALLY having a few shares to sell! With that in mind, we're going to be open 9 to 5 tomorrow, Wed. July 29 and Thurs., July 30.  We'll only be open those two days, so if they won't work for you, just give us a call and we'll set something up for later next week. Hopefully, we'll be able to keep a few shares on hand and not have to take deposits and make you wait!
If you would like to custom order a half cow, or Beef Side, give us a call so we can begin that process.
If you'd like more information on what is included in a Cordray Farms Beef Share visit our website at http://cordrays.com/beef_shares.htm. For more information on Beef Sides, visit http://cordrays.com/cordray_farms_beef_sides.htm

And as always, contact us if you have questions. We'll be glad to help!

Odds of the BIG Guy on Opening Day?

I've been looking back at the biggest of the Big Bucks and noticed that over half of them were taken within that first month or so. We always laugh that our youngest and our oldest hunters are the ones that brave those first few hot, hot weeks! But by the looks of it, that sweat might just be worth it if you are after the big one. Click on the title to see the archives of the Big Buck Winners.
