Venison Steak Recipe

Venison Steak Marinade

Sliced venison steaks - Sliced ham steaks are good for this one!

1 bottle Progresso red wine vinegar with garlic (found on salad dressing isle)

1 chopped onion

1 garlic clove section crushed

3 tablespoons lemon juice

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup water

pepper to taste

Marinade venison steaks in the above ingredients overnight and cook on the grill the next day. Poor the leftover marinade on the steaks when you first put them on the grill. (This recipe can be used for tenderloin kabobs as well if you cut them into 1-2 inch pieces and place them in a tin foil packet for grilling).

Found on the Internet and tested -- it's tried and true!

Recipe for Venison Ham Roast

Easy Venison Roast

Venison roast (usually a boneless ham roast)

2-4 cans cream of mushroom soup (with or without garlic)

1 large onion sliced

1 package Lipton Onion Soup mix

1/2 head fresh chopped garlic (if desired - the taste is not strong)

salt and pepper and any other seasonings you like

Place the roast in a crockpot and add the above ingredients. Cook on low for 8 hours. The sauce makes a great gravy for mashed potatoes and the leftovers are wonderful! (This recipe is also great with cubesteak instead of a roast - just shorten the cooking time.)

DNR notice...

Somebody came in and shared a notice they got in the mail last week:

The SC Department of Natural Resources is advising hikers, hunters, fishermen, and golfers to take extra precautions and keep alert for alligators while in Middle Coastal, Southern Coastal and Midlands Alligator Management Units.

They advise people to wear noise-producing devices such as "little bells" on their clothing to alert, but not startle the alligators, unexpectedly.

They also advise the carrying of "pepper spray" in case of an encounter with an alligator. It's also a good idea to watch for fresh signs of alligator activity and be able to recognize the difference between young alligator and adult alligator droppings.

Young alligator droppings are small, contain fish bones and possibly bird feathers.
Adult alligators droppings have little bells in them and smell like pepper. ;)

Trevor Housley took his deer freehand at 35 yards with a pistol!

He's shown here with his Ruger Red Hawk.45 LC. It's his first deer with a pistol.

Check out the hit counter at the bottom of this blog!

We've become quite a group! I set up the hit counter way back in spring and had around 3000 hits, I think, when deer season came in. I've been amazed at how many people are joining us! Now we're having nearly 1000 hits per day. Thanks for stopping by! It was at 17032  this morning when I first checked.

Custom packaging for your alligator meat at Cordray's!

Alligator meat is processed into cubed steaks and alligator sausage. We package it into meal sized portions and label each pack with your custom made label. You must have the tag number. You may choose to add your name or the location of your gator hunt, whatever you'd like.  The cubed portions are great for frying and will also cook right on the grill.  We've gotten rave reviews on the sausage, too! If you've gotten an alligator from us, would you please send in some recipe ideas?
